We were happy to have had Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge with us today.

They shared how God has transformed their lives and has taken them from hopelessness and addictions to a new life following Him. At the end of our service we received a special offering for the ongoing work of this wonderful ministry. Afterwards we treated them to one of Calvary's wonderful potluck lunches.

In addition to our effective and affordable residential Licensed Treatment, faith-based Long-Term Recovery and convenient Outpatient program, we have extensive prevention and transitional/aftercare services.

It's Father's Day and we had a few fun activities right after the service today.

Winners and losers... how can you tell the difference?

There are different opinions on what makes a man a winner in life all depending on who you listen to. Do we follow the world's opinion or what God tells us in the Bible? Just like anything, it is a choice we make. Today we want to look at why following God's agenda just might be the better choice. But we will let you decide.

If you are new here we hope you find that we are a church of ordinary people who are on a journey to live life God's way. None of us are perfect and God's grace is our lifeline. We believe the Bible is true and even the parts we do not understand or particularly like are given by God to help in our relationship with Him. It all comes down to relationships. If you do not know Jesus personally, any of our leaders would be happy to answer your questions and pray with you.

Welcome to Calvary Church on Mother's Day!

Today we are honoring all of the women in our church family.
We thank you for your love, dedication, and desire to have God guide your lives.
We pray for His richest blessings on you today.

We are a church family that comes from many church backgrounds, so everybody is welcome. We don't focus on who you used to be but on what God can make you become. We believe the Bible is true, that God loves everyone and that He really does answer our prayers.

We don't pretend to have all of the answers to the hard questions of life, but we have confidence in a God who does.

We are a church of regular people who believe that when regular people pray more regularly, God will do irregular things on a regular basis.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

Today we are looking at our heart. Jesus said those who are blessed are those who have pure hearts. What does that mean? What’s the difference between a pure heart and an impure one? How do you make your heart pure?

Worship of God is important and it is especially good to worship together. We are studying the Beatitudes in the sermon on the mount. These are attitudes which God helps us develop that in turn make us the kind of people He created us to be.

Today we are on part 5 of our series in the Sermon on the Mount dealing with attitudes. Here Jesus challenges us to be merciful. Doing mercy is directly related to how we understand God’s mercy to us.

Worship of God is important and it is especially good to worship together.

We are studying the Beatitudes in the sermon on the mount. These are attitudes which God helps us develop that in turn make us the kind of people He created us to be. Today we are on #3 - "Blessed are the MEEK for they will inherit the earth".
What comes to mind when you hear the word meek?
Is that what Jesus is talking about?

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

Last week we looked at being poor in spirit as a recognition that on our own we are helpless and our only hope and strength is God. Today we are looking at mourning in a way differently that you might expect.
A mournful attitude all the time? You'll see what we mean.

Today we are beginning a new series: "Positive Attitudes in a Negative World"

What determines your attitude every day? Is it people, circumstances, or the demands on your time?
For the next 6 weeks we will be looking at key attitudes that Jesus gives us as we seek to follow His leading day by day.

Welcome to Calvary Church which happens to meet at 15th and Pine in Hastings. The church is not a building but the people of God gathered together, whether it be on Sunday or any other day of the week.

Today we wrapped up our series on Prayer. In John 15, Jesus prays for his followers, specifically that they would be fruitful in all they do. What does that mean to you? How can you arrange your life so that in the end you will look back and say it was fruitful?

Our mission: To Live by Faith, To be Known by Love, and To be a Voice of Hope.

Today we are continuing our focus on prayer. We have taken apart and reassembled what we call The Lord's Prayer to see how Jesus instructed us to pray. We have honed in on Jesus' prayer in the garden looking at what was on his heart as he talked with the Father. Last week Pastor Gordon spoke on prayer from yet another perspective.

This past week we finished our 21 Days of Prayer. Today and next week we will look into more scriptures on prayer. Through it all, let's not just talk more and learn more about prayer, but let's just pray more, more often, more honestly, and more broadly.

We welcome Pastor Gordon Gathright as our speaker today.
Gordon has been a part of the Hastings Pastor's Community for many years and is currently the Chaplain at Augustana next door.

What did Jesus pray?

Last week we looked at how Jesus said we should pray in what we call The Lord's Prayer.
Today we are looking at what Jesus did pray when he was in the garden prior to his arrest.
We will see what was on his heart knowing all that was about to happen.
